Gary Barnett leads the Enterprise Advisory business for the Public Sector division of GlobalData, with responsibility for developing the firm’s research program and offering. Gary’s primary research focus is the practical application of technologies and methodologies to help to deliver sustainable transformation within the UK Public Sector. He also advises organisations in the public and private sectors on the topic of the Internet of Things.
Gary moderates a community of over 100 London-based Public Sector Technology Practitioners, working in the domains of Enterprise Architecture and Digital Transformation and is actively engaged with several Local Authorities, supporting them in their transformation programs.
Before becoming an analyst, Gary worked first as a software engineer then as an enterprise architect in the UK and France, developing and designing mainframe and large-scale client-server applications. Gary also served as CIO and Membership Manager for the Royal Yachting Association, the UK’s national body for sailing. In 2015, Gary was elected to Fellowship of the Royal Society of the Arts.
